The Last 7 Days Before FAR: A Final-Week Study Checklist

RapidRecall · CPA · FAR  |  Updated June 23, 2026

The final week before FAR is not the time for heroics. The material is in your head; your job now is to consolidate it, find the last weak spots, and arrive rested enough to think clearly for four hours. The candidates who blow it in the last week almost always do it by cramming new topics at midnight and walking in exhausted. Here's the opposite plan: a taper that gets you to exam day sharp.

The governing rule for the week: review and retrieve, don't learn new things. If you haven't learned a topic by now, a panicked 1 a.m. session won't fix it and may cost you points elsewhere by burning the energy you need for what you do know.

Day 7: Map the Weak Spots

Do a fast, mixed diagnostic across all three FAR areas, a couple of testlets' worth of MCQs plus a simulation or two. Don't study yet; just find out where you actually stand. Write down the five or six topics you're shakiest on. That list is your whole week. Everything else gets light maintenance.

Day 6: Hit the Hardest Weak Spot

Take the worst item on your list, usually deferred taxes, consolidations, or leases, and spend real time on it: re-derive the logic, work problems closed-book, redo the ones you miss. One hard topic, done properly, is worth more than a shallow pass over ten.

Day 5: Second Weak Spot + Simulations

Knock out the next weak topic, then shift to task-based simulations. With TBS worth half your score, the final week must include full sims under realistic conditions. Work them, check them, and redo any you miss the next day.

Day 4: Spaced Review of the Strong Stuff

Don't let your strong topics quietly fade while you fix the weak ones. Do a quick retrieval pass across the high-yield clusters you already know, revenue recognition, bonds, PP&E, just enough to keep them warm. Short and fast; you're maintaining, not relearning.

Day 3: Timed, Mixed, Full-Length

Simulate exam conditions: timed, mixed testlets, MCQ and TBS together, no pausing. You're building stamina and exposing any pacing problems while there's still time to adjust. Note where you ran long; pacing is a skill you can fix in two days.

Day 2: Light Review, Logistics, Early Night

Ease off. A light retrieval pass over your miss-list, then stop. Handle logistics: confirm your Prometric appointment, ID, and route; pack what you need; know your start time. Go to bed early. Sleep is a study tool the night before an exam; it's when memory consolidates.

Day 1 (Exam Day): Trust the Work

No new material. A very light skim of your one-page "things I always mix up" list in the morning, a real meal, and then leave it alone. Get there early, breathe, and pace yourself: don't burn the clock on a single brutal MCQ; flag it and move on. The simulations are half your score, so protect time for them.

The One-Page "Panic Sheet"

Sometime in the first half of the week, build a single page of the things you always mix up, the lease classification triggers, the deferred-tax direction, the consolidation elimination order. This is the only thing you glance at exam morning. The act of making it is itself high-value retrieval; having it keeps you from re-reading entire chapters in a panic.

Make the Taper Possible

A calm final week is only possible if the material is genuinely retained going in; you can't taper on topics you never locked down. That's the case for studying for retention all along, not just exposure. RapidRecall's FAR Sprint keeps the high-yield material on a spaced-recall schedule so that, by the final week, you're maintaining strong memories instead of trying to build them from scratch. Its short, audio-friendly sessions are ideal for exactly this week, quick retrieval passes between everything else life is throwing at you. If you're earlier in your timeline, pair it with the 30-day cram plan; if you just want to feel the format, grab a free deck. Walk in rested, trust the reps, and pace the clock. That's a pass.

Make It Stick the First Time

The RapidRecall FAR Sprint drills the highest-yield material as active recall on a spaced schedule: $39, a supplement to your review course.
